Huambo – At least six monuments and sites in central Huambo province expect to be classified as historical and cultural heritage of the Republic of Angola, for better protection, conservation and touristic exploration, ANGOP has learnt.
The sites are Ombala Mbalundo, the Halavala Mountain, the Chilome Evangelical Mission, the Catholic Church in Cuando and Canhe, as well as Bongo, belonging to the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
The local director of the Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Jeremias Piedade, said the classification of the moments as national heritage is scheduled for 2022.
The official explained that Huambo has currently six monuments and sites already classified as national heritage out of the 126 controlled.
Jeremias Piedade added that the guarantee of protection and conservation of these spaces is a major concern of the government focusing on the transformation of the places into centers of tourist attraction and collection of public revenue.
