Luanda – Plastic artist Hildebrando de Melo “HM” will represent Angola at the XV Havana Biennial (Cuba), taking place from November 15th of this year to February 28th, 2025.
The information was provided today to ANGOP by the artist, adding that during the event he will offer the public an exhibition entitled "Financial Monsters", a narrative that describes how the world's great powers move the economy.
“I am very pleased to participate in this event, which will allow me to present my pictorial work on a mural. The Biennale will be challenging taking into account the quality of the participants, which is why I will try to do my best to represent Angola well, which has strong historical ties with this South American country”, he highlighted.
He informed that the presentation of the work will be the responsibility of art critic Nathalie Mesa Sánchez, of Cuban nationality.
Born in the municipality of Bailundo, Province of Huambo, Hildebrando de Melo graduated in painting at the Associação das Lameiras, in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal, where he began exhibiting in 1993.
He was the winner of the ENSARTE 2004 competition, in the Youth category, and the SONA Desenhos na areia “Drawings in the sand” competition, in Luanda.
He participated in dozens of collective and individual exhibitions in Angola, South Africa, Germany, the United States of America and Portugal.
