Lumbala - Nguimbo - The governor of the Eastern Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, appealed Tuesday in the municipality of Lumbala - Nguimbo to the representatives of the court of the Mbunda Kingdom to find a solution to the leadership crisis that has affected the Kingdom for two years.
The crisis in this kingdom, which has 15 million subjects spread across Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe, began in December 2022 after the death of King Mwene Mbandu IV, who remained at the head of the monarchy for only 67 days, replacing the late Mwene Mbandu III in July 2021.
The kingdom has faced crises in finding a successor capable of leading the destiny of the kingdom.
The latest attempt took place in August, when a Zambian citizen, Du Shefu, was allegedly illegally enthroned as king of the Mbunda Kingdom.
After much opposition from his own family and other members of the court, who considered him "an arrogant individual, with a deviation of character, lacking in management and unifying principles, and a tribalist," Du Shefu was deported to Zambia a few days later and also accused by the administrative authorities of illegally entering and staying in Angola.
To avoid the extinction of this historic kingdom, the local governor, Ernesto Muangala, who is visiting this region of the province, reiterated his call for a consensus to be found for the enthronement of the new king.
Let there be peace and understanding at court for the enthronement of King Mwene Mbandu V," the governor said.
