Luanda – The plastic artist Fineza Teta said Monday in Luanda that the scarcity of material to perform craft works represents an obstacle for artists to develop their work and contribute to the transmission of cultural values.
Speaking to ANGOP, Teta said plastic artists remain in this field thanks to their resilience, however , the lack of resources prevents them from achieving excellence , since the little material that appears on the local market is not of required quality, so painters always have to go outside the country to buy it.
The artist emphasized the fact that, through painting, painters are able to convey the characteristic traits of national culture in its many dimensions, underlining the fact that the authorities have made art schools available to those interested, but lamented the lack of teachers and maintenance of these structures.
"Artists must professionalize themselves if they want to make a living from their art. They must cultivate discipline, permanent study and meditation. Create their own market, based on the image of what they produce and be faithful to it," she said.
