Talatona - The feature film titled "Por Jade", by Angolan director Tadisi Baruch, is among the eight films selected for the final Gala of the "Tony Curtis International Film Festival", in Hungary, taking place on the 19th and 21st of this month.
In 2023, the Angolan film won two awards at "Unitel Angola Move", in the categories of “Best Feature Film” and “Best Actor”, and now stands out among the 17 competitors for the aforementioned international award.
According to a note that ANGOP had access to, the film competes for the best “feature film” award, in an event to celebrate the legacy of Tony Curtis, an iconic figure whose Hungarian roots and illustrious career in Hollywood left an indelible mark in the world of cinema.
According to the film's director, two of the film's actors intend to participate in the festival in Hungary, but are reportedly having financial difficulties in acquiring tickets, which is why they are requesting support from public or private institutions.
The film, produced by Moca-Midia and BBC Multi-Media and distributed by Batuque Audiovisual, portrays the story of Suzana, an extroverted Angolan, who falls in love with Bakary, a Malian merchant based in Angola, whom she marries, thus forcing her family to accept cultural differences.
Three years later, Bakary is urgently summoned by his birthplace tribe to deal with issues related to family heritage, according to the synopsis.
Immediately, Suzana decides to accompany her husband and takes her three-year-old daughter Jade. Once in Mali, the young woman discovers that she is Bakary's official fourth wife and she is forced to live in the same house with the other three wives.
If they win the prize, the producers of “Por Jade”, in addition to the trophy and the promotion of the film on international platforms, will receive a million HUA (Hungarian currency), around AOA 2.5 million.
The cinematographic work was filmed in 2022, in Luanda, in the Mártires de Kifangondo neighborhood, and in the province of Namibe, specifically in the city of Tômbwa, in the desert.

DIRECTOR'S PROFILE
Tadisi Nsangu Baruch was born in Luanda, on October 14, 1984. Due to the armed conflict, in 1990, the family took refuge in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where he completed his primary and secondary studies.
Afterwards, he returned to the country and attended the Languages and Literatures course at the Higher Institute of Education Sciences (ISCED).
During the same course he fell in love for cinema, starting to produce and edit his productions without, however, attending a video course.
In 2008, he created the video production company "BBC MULTI MEDIA” and began recording the film “Vingança contra o Amor” (Revenge Against Love), a project that was not continued because technical and financial conditions were not favorable.
A year later, through a public competition he obtained a position at the production company Etnia Comunicação, as Image editor, director of documentaries and advertising content, where he produced more than 1000 spots. He directed and edited 5 documentaries.
In 2014, higher education in Cinema and Television began at the Angola Metropolitan Higher Polytechnic Institute (IMETRO). Throughout his academic career, he stood out in carrying out several projects in the area of Cinema.
The following year, he resumed recording “Vingança contra o amor”, and finished recording in January 2017.
Right after he worked in the 1º de Agosto Sport Club Mass Media department, as Image editor and director, where he created the TV Show named "Rumo ao Título” and produced the documentary "The invisible ones who make the champions”.
He held the position of head of the Audiovisual area and created the magazine "1º de Agosto on TV”. In November 2017, he saw his film premiering in the theaters of ZAP Cinema, in Luanda, namely "Casa Cheia” and "Guichê Fechado 24H”.
In 2018, his film "Vingança contra o amor" won the trophy for best film in the feature film category of the first edition of the Angola Comunica competition in Paris, France. VS/MDS/CF/DOJ
