Luanda - The third edition of the children festival called "Nzoji ya monandengue" opened Wednesday in Luanda with this year’s edition focused on helping children to develop a protective mentality against sexual abuse.
Speaking at the opening of the event, the project director, Solange Feijó, said the current edition aims to help children to develop a mentality that protects them against sexual abuse and contribute to their social, emotional and cognitive improvements, so as to have educated children with moral values.
Solange Feijo reinforced that along with sport, the arts can instill in human beings their real value, self-love, patriotism and responsibility to avoid evils such as early pregnancy, delinquency, prostitution, among others.
At least 230 children have been registered for this year’s edition to present theater plays, poetry, dance, painting and music, adding that children will receive prizes in several categories namely best dance, theater play, poetry, painting and music.
This year’s edition pays tribute to children’s content creator Kim Freitas. The honored said he was grateful for the recognition, as the festival has a national dimension that will help raise awareness against sexual abuse of minors.
Freitas defended that the awareness should be extended to schools, churches and families, where each participant could alert
children about the precautions to be taken to avoid situations of this kind.
He called on the country's media outlets to multiply content for children, so that they can have the basis to defend themselves.
