Luanda – The 26th edition of the Luanda Song Festival, which is scheduled for 22 September this year, aims to honour the country's environment with an emphasis on aspects related to its wildlife, said Wednesday the executive director of the festival, Carla Romero.
According to her, the musical event promoted annually by Luanda Antena Comercial (LAC) radio station will take place on the station’s premises and will be produced by TV Zimbo, with the motto “The environment in tune”.
She said that the content of the songs in the contest should bring aspects related to the environment, as the organization wants to raise awareness so that we can better take care of “what surrounds us, so that we can receive a healthier environment in turn”.
Carla Romero said that the festival aims to encourage the creation and deepening of song writers' musical skills, as well as to help to consolidate young artists' career, adding that the voting started today, except for the last two that took place on August 1st, and will end on the night of the awards gala.
She informed that the participants will compete in the categories of best voice, best interpretation, best production, lyrics and best LAC auditors song, as well as best and best song.
According to Tony Frampenio, a member of the festival's organization, for this year's edition a rhapsody will feature songs by various renowned local and international artis, such as Michael Jackson, Angélique Kidjo, and Robertos Carlos.
Olinda Simeão with the song "sem você por cá", Sara Saka (Movimentos), Allviinoz (Cacos do amor), Joelson Missula (Presentes ao luar), Tomás Baltazar (Heróis angolanos), Yetu (kudimuka), Lucénia Gomes (Sakidila mamã África), Jornicy Manuel (Terra querida), Eliúde Prata (Luanda) e CC (Monami), are the artists who are competing in this 26th edition.
The singer Zinga Sona was the winner of the 25th edition of the Festival with the song entitled “Cassula”.
