Lubango – At least 50 artists from the provinces of Cunene, Benguela, Cuanza Sul, Namibe, Huambo and Huíla are showcasing cultural products at a fair aimed to celebrate the 119th edition of the Festas de Nossa Senhora do Monte, in Lubango city.
During 16 days, the artists will sell works of sculpture, painting, basketry, earrings, beads, bracelets, pottery, among other cultural artifacts.
Speaking to ANGOP, the president of the celebrations committee, Paulo Gaspar, said the intention is to encourage the artists to present their works to contribute to the diversification of the national economy.
According to Paulo Gaspar, this year the artists, a class greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, were called to take advantage of the moment providing that the activity also aims to stimulate national artists to continue to divulge their works, besides the exchange of experience in this domain.
The Festas da Senhora do Monte is an annually held celebration, whose first edition took place in 1901.
