Luanda- The Angolan Embassy in the United States of America has been promoting, since Tuesday, in Washington D.C, United States of America, an exhibition that portrays Angolan experience and culture, in the library of the Language School of the US State Department, as part of the celebrations of the 48th anniversary of national independence, to be marked on 11 November.
According to a press release ANGOP has had access to, the exhibition is a partnership with the Foreign Service Institute, and includes handicrafts and other utensils that portray Angolan culture, as well as photographs, promotional videos about Angola's main tourist destinations, landscapes and traditional music.
It states that the event aims to take Angola´s name beyond the classrooms and the Portuguese Section of the Institute, as well as to arouse curiosity and interest in discovering this pearl of southern Africa.
Acoording to the document, despite its simplicity, the exhibition attracts the attention of anyone passing through the main corridor. Students from the Portuguese section will be able to ask questions about the pieces on display, as well as about Angola's social and economic reality.
The Institute's Language School is dedicated to teaching language and culture to State Department diplomats assigned to missions abroad.
The Institute currently has 83 students in Portuguese classes.
