Huambo – Brazilian writer Gustavo Rodrigues de Sousa Javarini on Saturday in the central Huambo Province won the first edition of the Angola Lê (Angola Reads) literary prize, with the book entitled “Armonia Intercultural”.
The contest lasted two months and had the participation of 2054 writers from the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP). This initiative belongs to the Angolan writer Nituchini Africano.
The winner will get as prize one million kwanzas and free publication of 100 copies of the book, as well as a trophy and a certificate of merit, which will officially be handed over to the writer on January 08, on the occasion of the commemoration of the National Culture Day.
The Best Newcomer prize went to the Angolan Henrique Pacifo, with the book “Um novo amanhecer”, thus winning 500,000 kwanzas, the publication of 50 copies of his bookand a trophy.
On the occasion, Nituchini Africano explained that the Angola Lê literary contest is designed to stimulate the appearance of new talents in the CPLP space, mainly young people aged between 18 and 35.
