Lisbon - Angola's ambassador to Portugal, Maria de Jesus Ferreira, has mourned the death of musician Mário Rui Silva, who died of illness on Friday in Lisbon.
In a condolence note sent to the in mourning family, the representative of the diplomatic mission in the Portuguese country said that it was with regret that she learnt of the death, due to illness, in Lisbon, of the renowned Angolan musician Mário Rui Silva, aged 71.
Besides being an excellent guitarist and kissange player, he recorded several albums in Paris (France), where he lived for several years.
Maria de Jesus Ferreira stressed that "Angola has lost one of the most illustrious representatives of its culture in the diaspora, expressing her hope that his legacy will be followed and honored by the current generation of national musicians. EJM/PA/DAN/AMP
