Ondjiva - More than 20 artists from the southern province of Cunene, including musicians, poets, playwrights, participated in the first edition of the "Festival Dipanda Culture and Arts", held on Wednesday.
The event held as part of the 49th anniversary of National Independence, marked on November 11th, aimed to promote and strengthen local culture and bring together representatives from fashion agencies and event promoters.
According to the head of Cunene's Cultural Action Department, Adérito Armando, the festival aims to promote regional culture and rescue cultural practices to guarantee the continuity of artistic traditions.
He said that the event allowed artists to unite, as well as to present their work.
Speaking to ANGOP, the event promoter, António Machado, highlighted that the festival served to promote, strengthen and disseminate cultural actions in the most varied areas.
The independence of Angola was proclaimed on November 11, 1975, by Agostinho Neto, who then became the first President of the Republic.
