Dundo - In order to attract more tourists and make them profitable, the head of the department of Culture, Art and Historical Heritage of the Provincial Office of Culture in Lunda Norte, José Pinto, Wednesday called for the collaboration of the population in the preservation of historic sites and monuments.
Lunda Norte province has six classified monuments and sites, namely the Dundo Regional Museum, the Obelisk, the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, the building of the Government, Bala-bala archaeological station and the CTT.
He informed that these moments require extra care in order not to degrade, adding that the Bala-bala archaeological station and the CTT need urgent intervention, for their recovery and/or rehabilitation, taking into account its level of degradation.
Jose Pinto said there were already negotiations between the local government and the Ministry of Culture so that these monuments are to be rehabilitated in view of their cultural value, especially the Bala-Bala archaeological site, which may in future contribute to scientific research into the region's cultural heritage.
He announced for next year, an inventory and restoration of the monuments and sites, which, given their state of degradation, is threatening the cultural heritage of our ancestors.
To this end, a cultural agenda will be launched which, in addition to the inventory, will allow scientific research and the location of sites that can be classified as sites and monuments.
