Luanda - The seventh edition of the musical concert “Olundongo no Lwandu” will mark the return to Angolan stages of the musician and researcher Ndaka Yo Wiñi, after five years outside the country.
The musical event to be held on the 28th and 29th of this month, at Casa das Artes in Talatona, Luanda Province, will feature guests such as Filipe Mukenga, Ângela Ferrão, Mito Gaspar, Branca Celeste, and will be opened by the group Ancestral Ndimbo.
According to the concert's producer, Alfredo Afonso, speaking Thursday during a press conference to launch the concert, the group Ancestral Ndimbo will welcome Ndaka Yo Wiñi, holding the artist reception on stage after his tour in the United States of America, Canada and South Africa.
He said that the event's production will meet all the artist's demands that were not put into practice in other editions, such as reduced lighting on the stage and other aspects that reflect Angolan ancestry and culture.
Regarding the preview, musician Ndaka Yo Wiñi informed that the objective of the “Olundongo no Lwandu” concert is to honor ancestors and guarantee the participation of musicians in cultural maintenance.
The artist explained that the name “Olundongo no Lwandu”, meaning “dance on the mat”, but which for him it needs “ancestral rhythm of the cradle” is one of the instruments extracted during his research into the import of orality, based on four pillars (song, story, proverb and immigration of accents).
“Olundongo is an adjective that comes from olungo, being a genre of dance, whose aesthetics of orature (a set of stories, legends, poems, proverbs) comes from songs, dances in the countryside. It works with three different types of movements”, he added.
He revealed that he was attracted to the movements and ended up being the center of his study of the rhythms that represent Africa, adapting them so that his songs were centered on cultural roots.
Regarding “Lwandu”, he recalled that it represents the cradle used by many Africans in the first days of their lives and not only.
He added that, during the event, one of the songs recorded in Canada will be presented with the aim of conveying the idea that it can be adapted to the local rhythm.
Ângela Ferrão, one of the guests, was happy with the invitation, as she identifies herself with the host singer and assured that preparations for the show are going well.
