Luena - The new provincial secretary of the Angola Council of Christian Churches (CICA) Baptista Lena, defended on Saturday, Jan 25, in Luena, eastern province of Moxico, that the cohesion of leaders and the promotion of interreligious dialogue are fundamental for the promotion of Christian values and peace in the country.
Elected to lead this religious platform, with 23 votes, in an assembly that included 35 delegates, the leader, who replaced pastor Domingos José, promised to work to unite churches and mediate the internal conflicts that many religious denominations face.
The prelate recalled that churches must be promoters of social peace, for this they must be organized and united to take up their responsibility in transmitting Christian and human values.
Baptista Lena recognized that there are many denominations that face leadership difficulties, a situation that compromises the reach of the transmission of the gospel and Christian principles focused on love for others.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the director of the Provincial Office of Culture and Tourism, in Moxico, Ester Alberto, encouraged religious institutions to consolidate moral values within society, with a view to building a more solid nation.
He reiterated that the church is a privileged partner of the State, in promoting society's education and moralization.
In the province of Moxico, CICA controls 14 religious institutions.
