Luanda - The União Operário Kabocomeu group, from Sambizanga district, won the B class of the Luanda Carnival, with 677 points, and rose to A class, announced Wednesday, in Luanda, the organisers.
The organisers released the information in a ceremony that served to announce the results of the three competitions, namely Children Class, whose parade happened on Saturday, B Class (paraded Sunday) and A Class (Monday parade) of the Luanda Carnival.
The second position (B Class) was taken by the União Petrolíferos group, in third place was União do Cazenga, in fourth place was União Kazucuta do Sambizanga and in fifth place was União Jovens do Kapalanga.
In class B, the top winner will receive three million kwanzas, the second two million, the third one million, the fourth 750.000 and the fifth 500.000.
The top five of this category (B) move up to the main category (A).
The historic carnival group, which dances kazukuta, paid tribute in this edition of event to singer Nagrelha member of the Lambas music group, one of the icons of kuduro music style, who died of illness last year.
The winner of the first edition of the carnival in 1978 after the proclamation of the independence, União Operário Kabocomeu was founded on January 2, 1952, in Luanda, by dancer Joaquim António.
Speaking to the press, Joaquim Manuel António member of the board of the Kabocomeu group dedicated the victory to the dwellers of the urban district of Sambizanga, who have always been concerned with the group.
“We are happy for this achievement. The members of the group worked hard and managed to achieve the intended purpose”, he stressed.
