Luanda – The carnival groups União Povo da Quissama, União Twabixila, União 17 de Setembro, União 10 de Dezembro, União Operário Cabocomeu, União Kiela, União Mundo da Ilha, União Etu Mudietu, União Jovens da Cacimba, União Café de Angola, União Amazonas do Prenda, União Njinga M’bandi and Recreativo do Kilamba, will participate in the main carnival parade in the scope of the 50th anniversary of the Independence of Angola, to be marked on November 11, 2025, ANGOP learnt on Saturday.
According to António Francisco de Oliveira “Delon”, in the children's class the parade will be opened by the Cassules do Geração Sagrada, Admirers of Kazukuta from Hoji Ya Henda, Sagrada Esperança, Juventude do Kilamba Kiaxi, Imbondeiro do Cazenga, Fogo Negro, Gizé, Twabixila, Twafundumuka, Jovens do Cacimba, Jovens do Café de Angola, Jovens do Amazona do Prenda, Jovens do Viveiros do Njinga M'bandi, Jovens do Petrolíferos, Jovens do 10 de Outubro, Jovens do Kazukuta do Sambizanga and Jovens do 54.
The general secretary of the Luanda Provincial Carnival Association (APROCAL) said that, in class B, the order will be União 54, União Twafundumuka, União Gizé, União Juventude do Kapalanga, União Estrela Kazukuta do Cazenga, União Sagrada Esperança, União Os Petrolíferos and União Kazukuta do Sambizanga.
The official was speaking in the scope of the draw for the parade for the 2025 edition of carnival, held last Thursday at the Rangel Nzinga Mbande's House of Culture, which was attended by the chairman of the association, Nataniel Narciso and representatives of the carnival groups.
He revealed that, for the first time, the popular feast (carnival) structure will not follow the new political-administrative division of the country that was announced in the Official Gazette in recent days and that is why the groups from Luanda will all parade.
He announced that in the 2025 edition, the awarding for first to fifth place will be reinstated, with the prizes and subsidies undergoing a positive change.
The government official is assured that they are complying with the carnival program.
At the time the chairman of the Recreativo do Kilamba, Poly da Rocha, considered the draw one important step for the APROCAL organization.
In his understanding, the draw should not always take place in the period close to Carnival, thus suggesting the possibility of it being two months after the end of each edition to facilitate the groups in their organization.
Despite having won the 2024 edition of the carnival, their group faced some difficulties, but they worked towards the 2025 carnival
The independence of Angola was proclaimed on November 11, 1975, by António Agostinho Neto who, subsequently, became the first President of the Republic.
