Viana - Luanda's deputy governor for the Political and Social Sector, Manuel Gonçalves, recommended to municipal administrations to mobilize schools and communities, in order to boost the street and off-season carnival with the integration of all classes.
Manuel Gonçalves was speaking during the fifth edition of the Viana carnival, which this year saw the participation of some groups from Cazenga, Maianga and Sambizanga, without a competitive nature.
According to Manuel Gonçalves, next year the carnival marking the 50th anniversary of national independence will take place, with an out-of-season carnival being planned in a circular and non-static way, bringing together all classes.
He highlighted that Viana has done very well in replicating the street carnival, and it is important to continue promoting it on the outskirts, so that the cultural festival is not just held on the Luanda waterfront.
He also highlighted that serious work must be done with the children's groups that will continue with the seniors, so that the legacy is well passed on.
The fifth edition of the Viana carnival was opened by the local youth group, which demonstrated all the professions and arts developed in the municipality.
The parade itself began with the group of children admirers of Kazukuta from Hoji Ya Henda, from the municipality of Cazenga.
In this edition, Viana had the participation of União Kiela do Sambizanga, União Jovens da Cacimba da Maianga and União Cazukuta do Hoji ya Henda do Cazenga, who made the audience vibrate to the rhythm of Kazukuta and semba.
The groups from Viana, namely Cassules Geração Sagrada, Cassules Twabixila, Cassules Viveiro do Njinga Mbandi, União Juventude do Kapalanga, Geração Sagrada, União Twabixila, Unidos do Zango and União Njinga Mbandi, also paraded on Rua dos Firefighters, the stage of the municipal carnival.
The audience, mostly made up of children and young people, was very vibrant and attentive to the steps of the groups who sang and entertained with their choreography and intervention songs.
Viana's Shrovetide is just a street parade and not competitive, with institutional support from the municipal administration. HDC/OHA/DOJ
