Cabinda - The Provincial Secretariat of Culture in northern Cabinda is betting on the revitalization of the folkloric dances, said the head of the Cultural Action, José Maria Janson.
This includes dances such as Nkuintchi, Matinuko, Libuli, Yombo, Liquembe, Senguele and Ntchientchi, extinct from local folklore, while the Nyoyo, Dibondo, Lélica, Sunsa, Nzola and Matchatcha are in the process of extinction.
Currently, Mayeye, Matáfala, Kintuene, Nzoca, Baine, Maringa, and Merengue are the dances that are still practiced.
The rescue project counts on the partnership of the Association of Folkloric Groups of Cabinda, which need support from the government and traditional authorities to recover the cultural heritage.
