Huambo - The performance of the media and its social contribution dominates the approaches to the 2nd day of the 1st Edition of the Africa/Angola 2024 International Book Biennial, which takes place in virtual format until the 18th of this month.
The event, organized by the State University of Brazil, involves 100 exhibitors and 258 authors from 80 different countries.
Speaking to ANGOP, the activity spokesperson for Angola, Nituecheni Africano, said that the biennial held a debate on the importance of social communication, with the involvement of national and international journalists.
He highlighted that the media, through journalistic exercise, seek to increasingly give credibility to literary works and influence potential readers to purchase books, to rediscover social reality and, consequently, participate in sustainable development.
Nituecheni Africano explained that the media has a decisive and crucial role in literary art, hence the need to address its social contribution, mainly in literature, not in Angola, but worldwide.
From this perspective, he suggested, it becomes possible and in a more comprehensive way to contribute to changing mentality, focused on humanization and improving the social environment of communities.
A total of 30 journalists from Angola, Brazil, Egypt, Gabon and Malawi participate in the event.
The International Book Biennial tributes António Agostinho Neto (1st President of Angola) and the centenarian António Jacinto do Amaral Martins, former Minister of Culture in Angola from (1975-1978). LT/ALH/CF/DOJ
