Luanda - A bust of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, will be placed in the courtyard of the Library of Foreign Languages in Moscow, Russia, in commemoration of the centenary of the nationalist.
The monument, according to the Russian ambassador to the country, Vladimir Tararov, who was speaking about the festivities of the Agostinho Neto's Centenary, will show how his country and the former leader of the MPLA helped to liberate Angola and Africa.
The Russian National Library, one of the largest in the world, has a large original collection of documents in Russian and foreign languages.
As part of Agostinho Neto's Centenary, the first President of Angola, other political and cultural events are also planned.
In addition to the placement of the bust in Moscow, an International Conference on the Life and Work of Agostinho Neto will be held next June, an ecumenical service, on 17 September, and a solemn ceremony for decorations.
António Agostinho Neto, born on September 17, 1922, in Kaxicane (Icolo and Bengo) Angola, died on September 10, 1979.
As the first President of Angola, the nationalist, poet and doctor proclaimed the country's independence on November 11, 1975.
