Luanda – Artists and cultural agents will debate on Saturday, 25, in Luanda, the dynamics of arts, at an event dubbed “Meeting on Visual Arts".
The event – promoted by the National Association of Plastic Artists (UNAP) and set to happen throughout the whole day in the Sky Gallery – will discuss the topics “Social importance of art psychology”, “International experience of the Angolan contemporary art”, “Visual Arts” and “The intervention of plastic artists in the press”.
According to a document from UNAP, the gathering will serve to commemorate two local dates, namely National Culture Day (08 Jan) and the anniversary of Luanda City (25 jan).
National Culture Day was instituted to be a reflection day to analyse the importance of culture in the construction of the identity of Angola and to reaffirm the ideal of having everyone involved in the preservation and promotion of the Angolan nation’s cultural manifestations and ethnic diversity.
Luanda, the seat of the government (capital of Angola) celebrates its foundation on 25 January. The Portuguese explorer Paulo Dias de Novais, who founded it in 1576, had given it the name São Paulo de Assunção de Loanda.
