Luanda - The Angolan film “Por Jade” is among the eight finalists at the “Tony Curtis International Film Festival”, in the best feature film category.
The festival will take place from the 19th to the 21st of the current month, in Hungary.
If they win the award, the directors of the national feature film will not only receive a trophy and publicity for the feature film on international platforms, but also a million HUF, (equivalent to approximately AKz 2.5 million).
The film, directed by Angolan Tadisi Baruch, who was highlighted at "Unitel Angola Move", and won the awards for “best feature film” and “best actor”, is now back in the spotlight.
This time, it is on the international scene that "Por Jade” stands out, being among the 17 competitors for this international award.
The director made it known that the two actors in the cast want to be present at the Hungarian festival, but are reportedly facing financial issues in purchasing tickets, asking for help from public or private entities.
"Por Jade", produced by Moca-Midia and BBC Multimédia and distributed by Batuque Audiovisual, was filmed back in 2022 in Luanda and Namibe.
The feature film tells the story of Suzana, an Angolan woman who falls in love with the Malian businessman based in Angola Bakary.
The two get married and, after three years, Bakary is called by his original tribe to resolve issues related to the family's heritage, and the Angolan woman decides to go with her husband and take her three-year-old daughter, Jade.
Once in Mali, Suzana ends up discovering that Bakary already had three wives, and was forced to live in the same residence as the other three women.
The “Tony Curtis International Film Festival” will take place in the city of Mátészalka (Hungary), from Thursday to Saturday, and aims to honor Tony Curtis' legacy.
The festival, in addition to the feature film category, has two other main categories, namely documentaries and short films.
