Luanda – Angolan minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment Jomo Fortunato and the US assistant secretary of State for African Affairs Akunna Cook discussed Friday in Washington the need to strengthen cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism and the environment.
During the meeting, Akunna Cook acknowledged the efforts of the Angolan Government in creating a macroeconomic and business environment aimed at attracting more and more investments and tourists to stimulate the national economy.
The meeting between the two officials took place during the programme of the annual ceremony in honour of the arrival of the first 20 Angolan slaves in the United States of America.
On the sidelines of this meeting, Jomo Fortunato received the president of the ICCF-Group, John Gantt, who expressed his willingness to support projects for the rehabilitation and improvement of national parks, with a view to boosting tourism activities in Angola.
The ICCF Group promotes international conservation leadership through public and private partnerships and raising conservation awareness among policymakers.
