Luanda - The exhibition named "Inspiração e Sagrada Esperança" (Inspiration and Sacred Hope), by plastic artist Álvaro Macieira, will be on display from Thursday until November 15th of this year at the António Agostinho Neto Memorial, in Luanda Province, bringing together one hundred diverse works.
Speaking to ANGOP, the curator Kabudi-Ely said that the exhibition brings together works of art such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, engraving and artistic weaving by more than 50 authors, gathered over three decades.
Regarding the name of the sample, he explained that it serves to honour the achievements of Angola’s first president, Dr António Agostinho Neto, for being a stern promoter of the construction of a national identity and culture and for the influence that Neto’s poetic work “Sagrada Esperança” (Sacred Hope) has had on the generation and life of Álvaro Macieira.
Born on May 13, 1958 in Vila de Sanza-Pombo, in the Province of Uíge, the Angolan artist is a journalist, writer and cultural consultant.
He is a member of the Union of Angolan Writers (UEA), as well as of the National Union of Visual Artists (UNAP).
Asa writer, he published the books "Castro Soroenho: Cinco Depoimentos", "Cantos de Amor" and "Séculos de Amor".
As a visual artist, Álvaro Macieira gained national and international fame, having revealed this side of him in 1998.
Meanwhile, the Angolan artist works were already exhibited in several cities around the world, with emphasis on Washington (USA), Paris (France), Moscow (Russia), Berlin and Hanover (Germany) and Abuja (Nigeria).
