Luanda - The Angolan Phonographic Industry Association (AIFA) intends to expand its membership database in order to guarantee the phonogram and videogram industry in the country.
The association’s director, Paulo Cassoma, said on Friday in Luanda that the association wants to work directly with radio stations, as they are responsible for broadcasting phonograms, remembering that they also have related rights that are protected by law.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony of the organisation, held at the Iron Palace, Paulo Cassoma said that once the certification process with the National Copyright and Related Rights Service (SENADIAC) has been completed, a strategy to combat piracy will be drawn up.
"The radio stations are not organised into proper associations for the protection of authors' and related rights, but it's a situation that AIFA also wants to see because many songs are played first on the radio stations," he explained.
AIFA is the first institution of its kind in the country to defend the rights of phonogram and videogram producers.
At the ceremony, music producer António da Costa Filipe, well known as Davinci was awarded a Gold Disc for the success of the song "Assuntos na banda", by singer Ary, produced at the end of last year. EH/ART/MRA/DOJ
