Luanda - The founder of Afrikanizm Art, João Boavida, on Thursday in Luanda Province highlighted the achievements of the Angolan government through the Ministry of Culture, in elevating national contemporary arts to the level of Africa and the world.
He was speaking at a press conference regarding the inauguration of the 4th edition of the contemporary art exhibition called “Interseções” promoted by Afrikanizm Art and Face Studio Angola.
According to João Boavida, in recent times the government's concern with making Angolan arts a reference on the international market has been notable.
He considered the Ministry of Culture's initiative to create the artist's portfolio to be fundamental to guarantee their safety and continue to attract essential investments in the country, highlighting the importance of continuing to pay attention to tax issues, as well as competitiveness in international markets and support for artists.
João Boavida said that Afrikanizm Art has helped Angolan artists to build a path that allows them to compete internationally.
Regarding the exhibition, he informed that it will be open to the public from the 22nd to the 24th of November this year, in Luanda. It has around 50 paintings by nine Angolan artists.
He emphasized that in addition to the paintings on display, there is also a greater representation of sculptures on site that convey a concept between tradition and origin, adding that they address cultural heritage, aesthetic values and beauty standards.
On the other hand, the representative of Face Studio Angola, Ms Ilya Machado, agreeing with the idea, highlighted that visual arts are important to continue to retrieve moral values.
She revealed that Angola is making its way into the world of arts.
“To continue to boost the cultural sector, we must not only invest financially, but we must also value artists so they feel observed”, she explained.
The official also informed that in 2025, the two organizations will continue with the promotion of various cultural activities, with emphasis on the Uanhenga Xitu awards.
Afrikanizm Art is an Angolan online platform that connects artists, collectors and art enthusiasts to the heart of African creativity and has a mission to celebrate, empower and elevate contemporary African art on a global stage.
