Viana – Fifty exhibitors have been participating since Thursday, in the municipality of Viana, in Luanda, in an African crafts and gastronomy fair, to celebrate Africa Day, to be marked on Saturday, 25 May.
Called “African Week”, the event aims to provide citizens with the diversity of the continent's birthplace, as well as showcasing historical, cultural and gastronomic values to encourage cultural entrepreneurship.
When speaking at the opening of the event, the deputy administrator for the political and social sector of Viana, Paulo Maka Zadi, highlighted that Africa is a continent with rich cultural diversity that must be shown to the world.
Music, dance, theater and African fashion shows will be part of the event, which is open to the public from 9am to 8pm.
Africa Day is celebrated on May 25th, because on this date, in 1936, the Organization of African Unity (OAU), today the African Union (AU), was founded.
