Ndalatando – At least 300,000 students aged 10 to 17, from 68 municipalities of Angola, will benefit from the Empowerment and Learning for All PAT-II project, the Ministry of Education trainer, Manuel Visage told ANGOP Monday.
Speaking at the start of the training of the School Gender Focal Points in Trauma Resilience, Visage said that from the total of 300,000 pupils, 70 percent are girls, who will be instructed in sexual and reproductive health, prevention of early pregnancy and dropping out of school.
According to the trainer, this theme will analyze issues related to overcoming traumas such as sexual, physical and psychological abuse and first aid for victims.
The meeting, lectured by 25 teachers from the municipalities of Cazengo, Banga and Ambaca, includes analysis on the functioning of the Mechanism for Suggestions and Resolution of Complaints.
Manuel Visage also announced that each school will have a complaint box where pupils and the community can lodge complaints about sexual abuse or harassment.
The training that ends Friday, includes a refresher on previous topics such as Menstrual Hygiene, Adolescent Development, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Bullying and Gender-Based Violence.
Financed by the World Bank, the project is being implemented by the Ministry of Education, with the support of some NGOs, since 2023 and will run until 2025.
In the first phase, the project essentially aimed to improve the quality of teaching through ongoing teacher training. IMA/ART/TED/AMP
