Uíge - The Secretary of State for Higher Education, Eugénio da Silva, will carry out an inspection, supervision and control visit to higher teacher training institutions in the province of Uíge as from Thursday.
Speaking to the press, at the end of the visit to the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences of Uíge (ISCED), Eugénio da Silva explained that monitoring of public and private institutions that provide higher teacher training courses in the country was planned for this year.
“This program foresees the visit of around 44 public and private institutions, aiming to verify the existing conditions for higher teacher training”, he said.
The official mentioned that a legal regime is in force for the initial training of teachers and early childhood educators, a move that imposes conditions and criteria so that institutions can carry out this training.
To ensure better quality of training, he said it is important that these institutions invest in quality training. For this reason, “this year we will dedicate ourselves to monitoring public and private institutions that are dedicated to teacher training.
“The idea is to verify the conditions for the operation of teacher training courses, to guarantee quality training.
He said that they will visit around 44 public and private institutions to verify the existing conditions for higher teacher training.
Other objectives of the visit are linked to verifying the profile of the teaching staff, infrastructure and equipment, carrying out pedagogical practices and internships and agreements with partner institutions where internships are carried out.
To assess the extent to which ISCED in Uíge is in a position to continue training teachers and whether it can improve the training offer, creating postgraduate courses to enable the training of teacher trainers.
Before visiting ISCED-Uíge, the Secretary of State was received by the Provincial Governor of Uíge, José Carvalho da Rocha, where, among various topics, he learned about higher education in this region of the country.
On Friday (23), the second day of work, Eugénio da Silva will go to the Uíge's Private Higher Polytechnic Institute to carry out an inspection, supervision and control visit, as well as to verify the conditions for teacher training. JAR/CF/DOJ
