Moçamedes - A Book Fair opened this Monday in the municipality of Moçâmedes, south-western Namibe Province, with the presence of 10 local exhibitors, as part of a promotion by the Provincial Office of Education, Youth and Sports.
In addition to academic books, such as history, physics, mathematics, English, chemistry, developmental psychology and grammar, literary works by various authors, both national and international, are also on display.
Speaking at the opening of the event, which lasts for five days, the director of the Provincial Office of Education, Youth and Sports, Agostinho Neto, considered that libraries and bookstores are “key elements” that have acquired knowledge, both in the academic and scientific fields.
The official pointed out the need for guardians, in collaboration with teachers, to promote reading habits and culture among students, so that in the future they can have credible knowledge capable of responding to the challenges of new technologies.
“We want to count on the collaboration of school management, teachers, parents and guardians so that the implementation of the reading plan has overwhelming results”, he said.
