Saurimo – Lunda-sul-based Agrarian technical school will implement plant production courses on this year’s syllabus that starts on September 2, the local Education Department director, Perfeito Candondolo said Wednesday.
The only educational institution dedicated to agricultural training in Lunda-Sul has enrolled a total of 66 new students, out of the 100 planned for the general agronomy, veterinary, fish farming, aquaculture, plant production, and animal management and forest resources courses.
Perfeito Candondolo said the 100 places made available were not filled because ‘there is little interest from young people’, who prefer courses linked to mining, having urged parents to direct their children towards technical courses, given the shortage of staff with technical qualifications in various specialties, especially agriculture.
