Saurimo – A school complex with 15 classrooms, with capacity to accommodate 2,025 students, in two shifts, came into operation on Tuesday, in the Kawazanga neighborhood, in Saurimo (Lunda-Sul) province.
The school, named "Alfredo Chihunde", was financed by the company ENDIAMA-EP, as part of its social responsibility, at a cost of 2.3 million dollars and it has a multipurpose sports court, 1st aid rooms, meeting rooms, teachers' rooms, a secretary and the general director's office.
The infrastructure was inaugurated by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, and will be used for first cycle and primary education.
Present at the opening ceremony, the Secretary of State for Pre-School and General Education, Pacheco Francisco, praised ENDIAMA's efforts in the rehabilitation and construction of infrastructures in the education sector.
He highlighted that the school complex will contribute to reducing the number of students outside the education system.
Pacheco Francisco asked the population to take good care of the infrastructure, so as to serve future generations.
On the occasion, the provincial governor of Lunda-Sul, Daniel Neto, thanked the initiative of the diamond company that built the school complex, which will relieve the Government in terms of classrooms and contribute to the inclusion of more students in the system. EM/JW/OHA/CF/DOJ
