Lubango - The Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria do Rosário Bragança, highlighted on Monday the need Higher Education Institute (ISCED-Huíla) has to commit to scientific research for a better understanding of the social and academic context.
The minister, who was speaking on the sidelines of an assessment visit to public and private higher education institutions in Huíla province, said scientific research must continue to be part of Higher Education as it provides discoveries in the most different areas of knowledge for the citizens.
According to the minister, ISCED-Huíla is one of the oldest pedagogical higher education institutions investing in research through the Centers for Research and Development of Education (CIDE), the Center for Biodiversity Studies and Environmental Education (CEBEA) and Laboratories of Chemical.
Given its high state of degradation, the minister said, the institute will receive 20 million US dollars in financing from the World Bank for infrastructure facelift.
The scientific research at ISCED-Huila has published several reports, such as the School Charter, Children out of School or at Risk of Dropping Out, Nutrition Project, Drought Project, Access to the Database, among other studies.
ISCED-Huíla operates since 1980 as one of the fundamental organic units of the Agostinho Neto University, it was reorganized in 2009 becoming an Autonomous Higher Education Institution.
