Luena - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, has disapproved the nursing and clinical psychology courses from being lectured at Walinga and Luena Private Higher Education Institutes in eastern Moxico province, ANGOP has learnt.
The Walinga Private Higher Polytechnic Institute in Moxico had denied permission to lecture the Nursing and Clinical Psychology courses, while the Luena Private Higher Polytechnic Institute (ISP-Luena) saw its Nursing course being discontinued.
According to a statement issued by the National Institute for Evaluation, Accreditation and Recognition of Higher Education Studies (INAAREES) the results of the studies for the accreditation of health courses conducted out across the country, show that these institutions will not be able to enroll students in these areas in the coming years.
In Moxico province, the Ministry approved the teaching of the Clinical Analysis and Nursing courses lectured at the Moxico Higher Polytechnic Institute, the only public education institution in this subsystem with level C accreditation.
According to the head of the ISP-Moxico department for Academic Matters, Ngaiele Fundão, the institution has been recommended to increase the number of teachers with doctoral degrees in order to improve the quality of teaching in this area.
Moxico province has three higher education institutions, namely the Moxico Higher Polytechnic Institute (ISP-Moxico), the Luena Private Higher Polytechnic Institute (ISPP) and the Walinga Private Higher Polytechnic Institute(ISPWM).
Moxico has more than one million inhabitants, according to the projection of the National Statistics Institute (INE) during the 2014 Population Census, and higher education is only concentrated in the province’s capital, Luena. TC/YD/TED/AMP
