Luanda - The Ministry of Education (MED) on Monday, in Luanda Province, opened through a Zoom digital platform, the public consultation to receive contributions for the enrichment of the National Reading Plan (Planaleitura) 2024-2027.
The project aims to reduce the illiteracy rate, enable the development of the book economy and create an Angolan literary corpus, as well as to increase infrastructure such as libraries and media libraries throughout the country, to equip schools at the most varied levels of education, and to train reading mediators, teachers and other stakeholders.
This nationwide initiative follows the recommendations of the Social Policy Commission of the Cabinet Council, which at its meeting in March, recommended that the document be sent out for public consultation in order to gather contributions and enrich it.
The books made under Planaleitura period will be produced in the country, which will boost the sale of items at more affordable prices.
As part of the same process, books for the visually impaired will also be produced.
