Huambo – At least 2646 classrooms have been made available for the 2024/2025 school year in Huambo municipality, for a total of 354.436 pupils enrolled in all education and learning subsystems, the local Education director, Tiago Sapalalo, said Thursday.
Tiago Sapalalo said the sector will have 23,611 pupils entering the education system this year, having assured that a greater attention will be paid to the primary education system, through the improvement of the learning methods and pedagogical training.
To avoid overcrowding in classes, Sapalo said the sector needs at least 571 new classrooms and an additional 1,625 teachers to reinforce the current 7012, spread across the communes of Calima, Chipipa and Sede.
With classes due to start on September 02, Huambo municipality has 194 schools for the 2024/2025 school year.
In the 2023/2024 school year, almost 344,113 pupils were enrolled in all general education subsystems in the region. LT/ALH/DAN/AMP
