Icolo e Bengo - The Secretary of State for Pre-primary Education, Pacheco Francisco, announced on Thursday, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, that the Ministry of Education (MED) is implementing new reading and writing techniques in the first cycle of primary education.
The government official provided this information to ANGOP on the sidelines of the new opening ceremony of the school compound 6021, with 12 classrooms, located in the neighborhood of Ngolome, commune of Bom Jesus, municipality of Icolo and Bengo.
"Right now, we are concerned about learning, which is why we are doing everything we can to implement techniques that make children learn to read and write, in a short time, in the first cycle of primary education", said the person in charge.
In relation to the compound inaugurated by the Secretaries of State for Pre-School Education, Pacheco Francisco, and for Mineral Resources, Jânio Correia Victor, it also has a multi-sports court, computer room, canteen, fountain, a raft, solar panels and an Ecopoint for waste collection.
The infrastructure was built in 10 months, by the National Oil, Gas and Biofuel Agency, in a place where there were four classrooms, in an advanced state of degradation. Pacheco Francisco calls for more partnerships of this kind, with the aim of building a thousand more schools in the province of Luanda, to meet the existing needs.
He said that due to the population density of Ngolome, the existence of a school of this level was already necessary, for which Pacheco Francisco thanks the Ministry of Petroleum for the offer.
According to the Secretary of State for Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Eugénio da Rosa Correio Victor, the ministry has been carrying out similar actions in all provinces, with the rehabilitation and equipping of schools, centers and medical posts, in order to contribute to improving teaching and learning and health.
"Acts of this kind will continue because we intend to minimize needs across the country, paying attention to those most in need, as is the objective of the Angolan Executive", he ensured.
With the expansion of the school, budgeted at 500 million kwanzas, students have the possibility of continuing their studies until 9th grade.
For the municipal administrator of Icolo and Bengo, Nelson Funete, the opening of this school will mean that students will stop traveling long distances in search of knowledge.
