Luanda - The Angolan government is investing in the installation of laboratories, workshops and computer rooms in professional technical institutes, with the aim to provide students with substantially practical training, the Minister of Education, Luísa Grilo, said Saturday in Luanda.
According to the minister, the training of high-level technical human resources is a goal that the government has been pursuing to strengthen the link between technical and professional training and the job market.
Speaking at the diplomas award ceremony to 130 students from the Telecommunications Institute (ITEL), Luísa Grilo stressed that this investment contributes to the country's development, as well as diversifying the economy.
According to the minister, the development of countries, economy and other areas of society's life is heavily dependent on the use of information and communication technologies, resources which, when properly used, make management processes more efficient, effective and with high performance and quality results.
“This includes the Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science and Information Technology and Multimedia Systems courses, which this group of students has successfully attended and which I congratulate with effusive joy,” she said.
Regarding ITEL, the minister emphasized that its management is committed to rigorous, quality training and therefore recommended the creation of a strategy to monitor and follow up on graduating students, based on their integration into the job market or their academic performance in higher education.
The minister reminded the students that they are finishing one cycle of education and starting another that is more demanding and challenging, but predictably successful, since they have acquired knowledge and technical skills that will help them build new knowledge and know-how and technical and scientific skills of local, regional and global relevance.
The 130 students graduated in the 2023/2024 academic year in technical courses of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications, and Computer Science and Multimedia Systems at ITEL, an institute run by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Social Communication.
