Cabinda - The Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Paula Regina Simões de Oliveira on Friday said the government remains focused on the construction of new higher education infrastructures and the training of the lecturers.
Speaking at the opening of the 2024/2025 academic year, the minister said the 2023/2027 Development Plan includes the construction of more facilities across the country to better accommodate and dignify teachers and students.
The minister cited specifically the Lunda-Norte and Lunda Sul provinces, which in a few days' time will have new higher education facilities.
Paula de Oliveira spoke of the forthcoming start-up of a Science and Technology Park in Luanda, the Agostinho Neto University Hospital, as well as the conclusion of a university in Namibe province.
On the occasion, the Minister announced the resumption from January 2025, of the program to send higher education technicians (bachelors and masters) to the best universities in the world, which was suspended earlier this year for alleged financial reasons.
The minister stressed the need to implement the Teacher Training Plan, with the award of 200 external scholarships for postgraduate studies to improve the profile of the country's teaching staff. JFC/JL/MRA/AMP
