Huambo – The Education Department in Huambo province has produced a textbook on inclusive special education adjusted to local academic concerns to help increase academic results, ANGOP has learnt.
The book, entitled ‘Practices in Special Education - Breaking Paradigms, Innovation and Results’, is aimed at teachers.
Aimed at reducing pedagogical asymmetries, the book was produced in 2024 after 80 teachers received online training in Brazil, in 2023.
According to the Education Department director, Mario Rodrigues, the book was produced in an effort agreed upon by teachers focused on teaching children with special educational needs.
Mario Rodrigues explained that the book is the result of a compilation of thematic content and the retention of didactic knowledge from experienced teachers on the subject, in order to better instruct pupils with special educational needs.
Rodrigues said the institution aims to create conditions in general education schools for children to receive special attention, underlining that the pedagogical work is centered on the role played by the teacher.
In a first phase, 250 copies of the work, compiled and produced in five chapters, were made available.
It illustrates the teacher's procedures and techniques when dealing with students with Down syndrome, blindness, low vision, autism, deafness and other specialties, in order to effectively promote inclusive education in Huambo province. LT/ALH/DAN/AMP
