Luanda - The 2024/2025 academic year in public and private higher education institutions begins on September 30th, but the official opening will only take place on October 4th.
According to the calendar, published at the Official Gazeta, I Série-n.º 128, of July 8, the period from 29 July to 16 August is saved for preparation for the academic year's kick off.
The document states that from the 9th to the 13th of September, entrance exams to private higher institutions will be held.
Meanwhile, classes for the 1st semester start on September 30th of this year and end on February 28th, 2025.
According to the document, from January 27th to February 28th, exams for the regular and 2nd semester are scheduled to be held, followed by the inter-semester break for registrations, publication of the lists and timetables for the II semester.
Therefore, the II semester starts on March 10th, with classes, continuous assessment, attendance tests and publication of results.
It highlights that from the 30th of June to the 1st of August, the exams for the regular and re-sit exams take place, while from the 4th of August to the 26th of September it is scheduled for students' holidays.
The 2024/25 academic year lasts 43 weeks, spread over two semesters.
Including public and private, Angola has currently more than 101 higher education institutions.
