Luanda - The director of the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), Zolana João, will take up a position as a researcher at the Enabled Research Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States.
According to a press release that reached ANGOP on Friday, the Angolan representative will work as a research associate at MIT, a research group on space solutions.
The position is focused on advancing technologies and concepts for space exploration and applications.
According to the press release, the MIT has a partnership with the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Social Communication (MINTITICS), through GGPEN, in a project for data use through space technology, to help in decision-making to combat drought in the south of the country, which is supported by the NASA.
The Angolan specialist's distinction will certainly help the country to continue its steps, which are already being echoed in the international space industry, as the region's co-leader in the sector.
