Luanda – Angola´s minister of Education, Luísa Grilo, said Thursday in the Province of Luanda that preparations are being finalised for the meeting of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)’s regional commission for Africa, which will take place in the country in July this year.
Luísa Grilo, who is also the president of UNESCO's regional commission for Africa, said that everything is in place for the gathering.

The minister informed that the preparatory work is underway, adding that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, has already given the green light on the matter and in this way the conditions are being created for the participation of all the ministerial departments that are part of the UNESCO commission.
According to her, a meeting was held with the ministerial departments that are part of the organization, which served to clarify, plan and address all the issues related to UNESCO, in terms of the environment, young girls and science and technology.
With regard to tourism, she revealed that they are planning a tourist route, because "since the meeting will take place in Luanda, it is necessary to show the reality of the country's capital in all its splendour".
The programme includes a visit to Kissama National Park and the Kitabanga project, located on the border between Luanda and Canza-Sul provinces.
Meanwhile, the minister considered positive the activities developed by UNESCO in 2023, highlighting the ethnomathematical art of "Sona", a symbol of the Tchokwe culture, which was recognised as UNESCO´s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
