Luanda - Angolan Government is committed to entrepreneurial and innovative actions aimed at expanding the scientific and technological development in the country.
The Executive’s commitment was underscored by minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESCTI), Maria do Rosário Sambo,
who was addressing a Consultative Council Meeting opening ceremony on Friday.
The minister highlighted the national and international partnership in
the implementation of innovative projects at the level of higher education institutions, which contribute to the improvement of the action programme.
As for entrepreneurship issue, Maria do Rosário Sambo explained that the Executive is working with Netherlands on creation of foundations to ensure the introduction of entrepreneurship in the curriculum of the undergraduate courses to help students cultivate talent and non-conventional skills resulting from the new products or businesses.
Research and development are crucial for innovation, she said adding that the low percentage of the Gross Domestic Product, with the expenditures in science will be reversed after the start of operation of the Foundation for Scientific and Technological Development (FUNDECIT).
The minister noted that to Foundation is intended to set criteria or mechanisms for funding of programmes and projects of scientific research and development in line with the strategic programmes of the government and the implementation of the National Policy for Science and Technology and Innovation.
