Benguela - The Zimbabwean ambassador, Thando Madzvamuse, on Monday expressed his country's interest in cooperating with Angola in the areas of agriculture, industry and mining.

The diplomat was speaking to the press, after a courtesy meeting with members of the Provincial Government of Benguela, with emphasis on Vice Governor Adilson Gonçalves.

According to the diplomat, the province of Benguela was chosen for this visit due to its strategic nature.

'From here you can connect to other areas of the continent and the world by land, rail and sea, through the powerful Atlantic Ocean,' he said.

Thando Madzvamuse said that Zimbabwe, in addition to the announced sectors, intends to identify other potential areas for exploration.

The ambassador said that he is x-raying some provinces in order to assess the potential and level of exploitation, to strengthen socio-economic cooperation between the two countries.

'Zimbabwe intends to continue to solidify bilateral cooperation, which dates back to the anti-colonial struggle,' he emphasized.

As for the Lobito Corridor, Thando Madzvamuse assured that he will seek to assess more about the project, so that, in the near future, the import of oil to his country can be made from Angola.

He said that the transport of fuels, through this corridor, will make it possible to shorten distances, connecting the two oceans, Indian and Atlantic, and making the process easier.

During his 24-hour stay in Benguela, the diplomat will visit the Museum of Archaeology, the historical monument of São Miguel, fishing and some farms in the municipality of Baía Farta. CRB/DOJ
