Luanda – The Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) has been awarded the Outstanding Technology, Digital and Marketing Prize by the Organisation of African Economic Zones (AEZO), the ZEE CEO António Henriques da Silva said Wednesday, in Luanda.
Speaking at a season greetings get-together, the ZEE CEO said the prize was awarded during the seventh edition of the AEZO annual summit, held from November 30 to December 2, in Abuja, Nigeria.
To the ZEE CEO, the achievement, in general terms, reflects the international recognition of the good performance of all employees of the institution, where creativity and innovation has been fundamental.
The AEZO award, Henriques said, confirms the course set by the Board of Directors, in line with the future, in which new technologies and the capacity to operate them effectively will be decisive instruments to achieve results, in an increasingly competitive and demanding market.
"This award confirms the quality of the path taken during the existence of the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone, with projects that have generated over 6,000 new jobs, most of which have been filled by nationals", Henriques said.
The reduction of imports, increase of exports and attraction of foreign investment, despite the international economic crisis, also contributed to this, the ZEE CEO said, adding that over the last two years investment projects from Germany, Eritrea, India, Rwanda, Lebanon and Angola have been implemented in the economic zone.
The ZEE ventures cover productive sectors such as dairy products, pasta and other foodstuffs (including wheat flour, semolina flour, sausages, biscuits and cold meats), detergents, clothing, plastic utensils, thermoelectric power stations and electrical devices, steel, construction materials and operation of automotive inspection centres.
The ZEE counts on the presence of 157 companies in 2022, 76 of which are operational, with 13 industrial projects in execution, and the same number concluded, two projects inaugurated and eight awaiting inauguration.
