Moçâmedes - Twenty high voltage towers on the Moçâmedes-Huíla line were vandalized last weekend, compromising the supply of electricity to Angola’s southern province of Namibe.
ENDE technicians are already working on site to replace the vandalized equipment and guarantee that within 15 days the situation will be resolved.
Speaking to the press, the technical director of the Directorate of Exploration and Maintenance of High and Medium Voltage of the Southern Region of ENDE, Adriano Sebastião said that the teams have been working, since Saturday, to replace the vandalized materials on the 60 Kv Line of the Huíla/Namibe interconnected system.
He said that about 150 angles, cables, as well as concrete bases of the towers' sustainability materials were damaged.
'If it were not for the prompt intervention of the brave warriors of ENDE, through preventive maintenance work on the High Voltage Line, the damage would be worse, which would result in the general interruption of the electricity supply in the Land of Happiness,' he stressed.
'Here on the ground, we have four technicians from Huíla and three from Namibe, the repair work of the 15 towers, in critical condition, has a forecast of 15 days given the difficulties on site, as it is a terrain between the rocks' said Adriano Sebastião.
The police are working on the investigation of the offenders, to be handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office for due criminal accountability, for vandalization of public property and theft.
It should be noted that a situation of this kind happened in 2020, in the same place, causing the fall of six (6) High Voltage Towers. VR/DP/DOJ
