Luanda- The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) reiterated, this Friday, its availability to support Angola in projects linked to Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and in the space segment.
This availability was expressed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, by the director of the ITU Radiocommunications Office, Mário Maniewicz, during a meeting with the minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, on the sidelines of the World Radiocommunications Conference ( RC-2023).
The head of the ITU highlighted the levels of cooperation relations between Angola and the ITU, in the chapter on Telecommunications/Information and Communication Technologies and the space sector.
At the meeting, the two interlocutors addressed issues relating to frequency spectrum management for the provision of radio, telephone, satellite and television services at national and regional level, within the scope of coordination with the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
In turn, minister Mário Oliveira, similar to what he had already done in the plenary, thanked the support provided by the ITU to African countries in the approval of Resolution Number 559 (WRC-19) on the recovery of the orbital positions of 31 countries on the continent.
The aforementioned resolution, relating to regulatory measures on the use of satellite orbit, was approved on Monday, 11th, at the ITU plenary held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
