Cazenga - ALCAALAngola Group, owner of Textang II, announced Tuesday (22) plans to start exports to Portugal of 43.3 tons of cotton yarn.
The goods are divided into three containers of 14.2 tonnes each, a shipment that marks the biggest departure, bound for Portugal, in the history of Angola.
Speaking to the press, the head of business at the manufacturing unit, Hiroshi Yamamoto, considers that this export, the first of its kind since the restart of production in 2013, is an evidence of the capacity and potential to compete with other industries in the textile sector in the world.
He said that at least USD 3 million had been invested, because the group took over the management in the public tender, less than two years ago.
Hiroshi Yamamoto admitted that the great difficulty at the moment is the acquisition of raw material, as the cotton has to be imported, which is why the group is betting on production in downtown Cassanje, in north-east Malanje province.
In that province there is already a project of more than 30, 000 hectares for the planting of national cotton.
In the next three (3) years, he said, they will be able to continue exporting the yarn product.
He noted that the local market has no consumer of this product, because the national textile industry was destroyed in terms of weaving and knitting.
Textang II factory was designed to make fabrics for uniforms and flexible to meet the national demand, in the part of fashion and other garments that can use these fabrics, where the base is cotton.
The textile unit has an industrial area of 110,000 square meters.
Located in the municipality of Cazenga, it has a production capacity of up to 10 million meters of fabric per year. PLA/AC/CF/NIC
